Don’t be afraid of FRUIT.
Especially as summer approaches and berries, melons are so plentiful.
This isn't a Green Light for banana smoothies. This is an urging to get SMART about what you are eating when you "crave sweet".
While Fruit is a food that has sugar it’s always a better choice for your body than sugar free ice cream or candy. On hot summer day when you’re grilling in your backyard or at a Memorial Day Pool Party in a few weeks a slice of watermelon is easily the MOST refreshing thing that’s going to be on the buffet table and a WAY WAY better choice that “just a taste” of that really cheap (literally cheap) Red White & Blue cupcake from the CostCo factory (you didn't think that they make those in a bakery did you? It's massed produced and cheap because the ingredients are horrible) that someone brought in the plastic dome.
TIPS:
Eat your fruit AFTER a bit of protein. It’s sweet so making it a dessert instead of “treat” is a smart, ThinBrain option because it’s best to “anchor” the sugar and carbs with a little bit of protein. Plus I you eat it as dessert right after a meal, it's self limiting and not something you'll be able to eat a lot of in the first place.
Be careful with this is you are less than 6 months out from Surgery. A small BITE goes a long long ways, and if you remember the nugget about....you should treat it like a desert and eat it after dinner so the portion is automatically self-limited as your pouch or sleeve is already mostly full ;)
BONUS TIP:
Did you know that while there’s sugar and carbs there’s also the following things your body NEEDS.
Here’s what’s hidden inside a slice of Watermelon:
Fiber
Vitamins: A, C, D, E, K, B1, B6, B12
Folate
Calcium
Iron
Magnesium
Potassium (a whole lot actually)
And.....NO you cannot puree melon, bananas or any fruit into your protein shakes. No making stupid "Pancakes" out of mashed bananas either.
If you want fruit, get the full mental benefit and satisfaction from tasting and chewing the fruit independently like a normal person. Adding fruit into protein drinks is nothing but a fantastic way to increase calories of your drink without even really tasting the fruit-and it an idea Fatbrain comes up with to help you “think” it’s healthier. And the "Pancakes" made of out mashed bananas...taste like a hot banana. Just make Inspire Pancakes when you want a pancake😉

If you've been doing our March Inspire Diet Challenge you know that one of your daily tasks on each check-in is to weigh yourself.
There's a few reasons we've discussed before, and on our website (this article: https://www.bariatriceating.com/blogs/bariatric-advice-and-support/the-scale-friend-or-enemy ) but there's a bigger reason than the truly important getting to know your body.
It's to make peace with what your MIND seems to think will happen when you start losing weight again.
You see one of the biggest things that no one talks about, and trips EVERYONE up is that during our initial stages as a post op we are dropping a pond or more DAILY. Now we've said this before and we'll say it again, no matter how hard you are working that first year it's not YOU it's the surgery. People here who couldn't get to goal, and those to got to goal and regained can attest to the fact that your Surgery is driving the bus for at least the firs year, and if you're lucky the first year and a half.
So by ...
