If you've been doing our March Inspire Diet Challenge you know that one of your daily tasks on each check-in is to weigh yourself.
There's a few reasons we've discussed before, and on our website (this article: https://www.bariatriceating.com/blogs/bariatric-advice-and-support/the-scale-friend-or-enemy ) but there's a bigger reason than the truly important getting to know your body.
It's to make peace with what your MIND seems to think will happen when you start losing weight again.
You see one of the biggest things that no one talks about, and trips EVERYONE up is that during our initial stages as a post op we are dropping a pond or more DAILY. Now we've said this before and we'll say it again, no matter how hard you are working that first year it's not YOU it's the surgery. People here who couldn't get to goal, and those to got to goal and regained can attest to the fact that your Surgery is driving the bus for at least the firs year, and if you're lucky the first year and a half.
So by the time you Regain and start losing that regain your body doesn't respond the same way. You may shed a TON of weight in the first two weeks but it typically levels off and "slow and steady" becomes our weigh of life (see what I did there). And when most people don't see the scale moving down a pound or more every single day? It's crushing and they think they are doing something wrong. So they give up and nothing happens. Well nothing except eventually they gain even more weight.
But that's how it's SUPPOSED to be. It's not supposed to be weight loss as fast as it was right after your surgery. And no it's not because of your skin...because newsflash loose skin is going to be loose or not. It's your genes and age NOT how fast or slow you lose weight.
It's just how the body works.
So there are no SLOW losers...even during the honeymoon phase. If you are losing weight, you need to be celebrating and recognize that it doesn't matter how long it takes you to get to goal, or get back to goal. What matters is learning enough to STAY there.
So stop beating yourself. Stick with the Inspire Diet, stick with it daily, every moment counts because every moment adds up to Success. And you deserve it!
The video below contains numbers as a metric, if you are losing more or less...that's great. You are losing weight and it's WORKING. Keep in mind, it's more that you keep losing and not have to experience another regain than how fast you lose this one.
We've had a ton of new people join us since the last time we did one of these!
In the comments below introduce yourself with these three facts about YOU:
1) Your name
2) Are you a cat person or dog person?
3) Favorite Inspire Flavor or food.
